Research Projects - Overview

Advances in molecular genetics have transformed both research and clinical aspects of neurology. The Molecular Neurogenetics Laboratory is involved in the identification and characterization of genes causing inherited neurological disorders. It is also involved in the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying genetic disorders. Major areas of research are: Stroke, Migraine, Mitochondrial disorders and Parkinson’s disease.

The group is an active member of the Collaborative Research Center 596 ‘Molecular Mechanisms of Neurodegeneration’ and strongly collaborates with the Interdisciplinary Stroke Centre Munich.
