Concept

Since 2004, the Department of Neurology of the University of Kiel is located in a new Neurocenter that combines the Depts. of Neurology, Neurosurgery and Neuroradiology in one modern and practical building. Our Clinic has a stroke unit and a neurologic intensive care unit with 6 beds, respectively.

Approximately 600 patients with an acute stroke are treated in our clinic per year. We offer all modern diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to treat stroke patients. The diagnostic possibilities cover the stroke unit monitoring (ECG, blood pressure, temperature, glucose and oxygen saturation), all Doppler methods (CW Doppler, Dopplersonography intracranial pulsed, color coded duplex for extra- and intracranial vessels), the transthoracale and transoesophageale echocardiography and the availability of a comprehensive radiological diagnostics with spiral CT, MRT 1,5 and 3 T and interventional angiography. All diagnostic and therapeutic approaches are available around the clock.

We also offer a large outpatient department for ambulatory services such as clinical and ultrasound-follow up of stroke patients.
